Note:  William Brown (abt 1720 - 1772) and his wife, Margaret, owned land in this area, and lived here with their 9 children.  Their son, James Brown (1757 - 1823), and his wife, Mary (Polly) Williams  (1760 - 1827), and their children continued to live in this area, and owned land identified with the places represented by these photos:  Three Hat Mountain: Four Mile Branch; Lick Creek; and Flat Swamp Creek.
